Platinum Milestone

11.09.14 - Winfield, MD: In 1944 as World War II was nearing an end, Ruth & Herb Shipley were married in a county clerks office in rural Maryland. No time for a fancy reception, no dancing, no cake. Seventy years later they & their family are blessed to have had true celebration with a fully grown family, great grandkids, bluegrass music, and a little cake cutting. Well done Shipleys!

Haverford Men's Cross Country Finish Big

11.01.14 - Haverford, PA: A great moment yesterday at the Centennial Conference Men's Cross Country championships as Haverford wins the race finishing their top three; Joel Christian, David Roza, & Charlie Marquardt celebrate bringing in the rest of their team. Haverford scored 21 points claiming the team victory, and Junior Marquardt legged out the 17th individual title for the Fords in the conference's history (right, pointing). Stellar Volleyball Vantage

Below are some favorites for Penn State Behrend Volleyball away at Kean U. Kean's Harwood Arena is an remarkable venue, especially for division three. My worries of strobing quickly vanished as I set white balance & tested around 3200 ISO! This was a double match, and a third of the way into match two (on court two), I migrated into the track/balcony which provided a great perspective, similar to that from Carnegie Melon. The birds-eye view really cleans up the background. I was often at the perfect height where the subject cleared the net. And on match two we had a net that wasn't marked with "KEAN COURGARS"; a small detail for my client who wants to bank PR pics.

New Year Resolution #1 - 2013 Recap

I've finally made an attempt at one of my first resolutions of the year … to wrap up my best of 2013 before the 2014 Centennial Conference Swim Champs! Ironically, it was this 2013 event that hung me up for so long. I hadn't finished isolating favorites from last years set until this week. But it's always a good learning exercise, and its kind of energized me a bit leading up to this weekends championship marathon. My friend Ryan Murray and I regularly tackle this event, which can be said is really just controlled photo chaos. There's so much going on, so much opportunity & content to cover. It's really nice to have a second set of eyes to help & push me to see new things. Ryan, this best-of set is to you. Cheers! Let's destroy-it this weekend!

McDaniel Tangles a Sweep

01/22/14 - Westminster, MD: My alma mater was chomping at the bits to defame conference darling Johns Hopkins last week. Both McDaniel teams did so soundly and I couldn't have asked for better PR photos during such a big conference sweep. As a bonus there was a bunch of loose-ball/struggle for possession action, which I can't get enough of. But if I had to choose a favorite, I'd have to take this leading frame taken during a halftime scrimmage of the Westminster 2nd & 3rd Grade Girls teams ... this is the real deal kids!
